SOLUBLE SYSTEMS SPONSORS FIRST FELLOWSHIP FOR PODIATRIC RESEARCH AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY AT A HARVARD AFFILIATE HOSPITAL

Soluble Systems, LLC, a Virginia-based company that manufactures advanced wound-care products, announced this week their sponsorship of a two year, $50,000 fellowship in reconstructive foot surgery and research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center , which is one of three Harvard University-affiliated hospitals. Dr. Adam Landsman and Dr. Philip Basile will serve as Directors of the Fellowship. It is the first time that a fellowship program in podiatry has been funded for this purpose at one of these hospitals. Few such fellowships for podiatry exist anywhere in the United States.

Two fellows named to the program have been awarded clinical faculty positions at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Landsman, Director of the Fellowship said, “This fellowship is the first of its kind. The program is designed to provide advanced training in research with a focus on complex issues of reconstructive foot surgery. We anticipate that these fellows will become leaders in the field of podiatric surgery. We are pleased to have the unqualified support of Soluble Systems in our efforts to address these issues, and we look forward to sharing the results of our research with the medical community.”

Soluble Systems LLC is located in Newport News, Virginia, and manufactures a line of sterile moist wound care dressings called TheraGauze™ that helps difficult wounds heal by providing moisture without tissue maceration. In addition, when kept moist, TheraGuaze™ will absolutely not stick to the wound, eliminating pain on removal and leaving the underlying wound healing processes intact. These features are critically important to healing and pain management, especially with diabetic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure sores, burns and certain wounds caused under battlefield conditions.

TheraGauze™ represents a patented breakthrough technology. Clinical trials and use of the product are underway in dozens hospitals, clinics and doctor's offices across the country, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northwestern University Hospital and Mary Immaculate Wound Clinic. Results to date indicate dramatic healing properties with reduction or elimination of pain in wound care.

The dressing can also be used in conjunction with hydro-based antibiotics, analgesics and other medicaments. TheraGauze™ is manufactured in an ISO 8 Clean Room facility located in Hampton, Virginia, through a teaming agreement with The ARC of the Virginia Peninsula, a workforce advocacy agency serving those with developmental disabilities.
