Management Team

Allan Staley

CEO and Co-founder

President Allan R. Staley co-founded Soluble Systems with his business partner, Dr. Guy G. Levy, in 1999 and became its President in January 2007. Over the last 10 years, Mr. Staley has used his creative skills to help Dr. Levy develop and refine the company’s patented polymer technology into a line of commercially viable wound care products under the brand name of TheraGauze®. Mr. Staley is formerly a member of Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C. and served on its Executive Committee after merging with the firm in 1999. Prior to 1999, Mr. Staley was the Managing Partner of Diamonstein & Staley. In his 20 years practicing business law, Mr. Staley closed nearly $1 Billion in acquisitions and financings. He is an 1982 honors graduate of Randolph-Macon College, with a BS in Economics and Business. Mr. Staley received his JD from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1986, with a summer term in Exeter, England.

Linwood "Woody" Staub

President

Woody Staub has spent the last twenty-five years in the Medical Device space mostly with J&J, KCI and most recently as president of his own company, CMJ Medical. Among these were the start-up of Ethicon Endo Surgery, General Manager of the Indigo urology effort in Asia-Pacific, and VP General Manager for the J&J wound management group for Europe, Middle East and Africa. After spending time back in the U.S. as VP Sales and Marketing for the Women’s Health and Urology (old Gynecare) division, Woody assumed the role as World-Wide President for KCI’s V.A.C. division ($1.4B +/-). As president of CMJ Medical, he is currently heading a sports medicine distributorship with $25M +/- in sales and 30 sales representatives across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Woody graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1984 with a degree in Economics and has a Fellowship degree from Wharton in Hospital CEO Management.

Thomas Zeni

Chief Financial Officer

Tom Zeni’s career has included a 24-year tenure with ConocoPhillips where he had extensive experience in budgeting/forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, and controllership functions. Among his many assignments, he served as Asia Region Controller and Business Services Manager for Plastics Operations in Southeast Asia (Singapore) and as Finance and Business Services Manager of a West Texas refinery. He was on the Board of Trustees for Golden Plains Community Hospital, serving as the Chairman of the Finance and Planning Committee. Mr. Zeni is currently on the audit committee of the Board of Trustees at Randolph-Macon College.

He is also an Executive Partner at the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary. Mr. Zeni holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Randolph-Macon College, an MBA from The College of William & Mary, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Michael Weber

Sr. Director of Operations

Mr. Weber joined Soluble Systems in 2008 to lead the Research & Development and Quality Assurance efforts.  With over 20 years of industry experience, he is now head of the Sales Operations and IT functions as well. His career has included pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing at both branded and generic firms, most recently at Amgen Manufacturing and Pfizer Global Research. Mr. Weber brought newly formed labs into GMP compliance, led multi-site investigations for FDA Pre-Approval Inspection readiness, and managed IT projects including CRM and Sales dashboard development.

He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1994 and is pursuing an M.S. in Management of Information Technology at the University of Virginia.

Greg Neal

VP of Marketing

Greg joined Soluble Systems in July, 2014 as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Neal has a proven background of more than 30 years in healthcare marketing, sales and leadership. He most recently worked in biotech in the strategic positions of commercial, federal and national account development. Prior to this he was a managing partner in two commercial healthcare consulting companies focused on pharma and biotech markets. He also consulted with the Franklin Covey Co. on their 2011 text The 3rd Alternative.

Mr. Neal has extensive experience in pharmaceutical marketing and sales with Merck and Co. There he held positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing over a 30 year career including commercial markets as well as development of the specialty sales model.

Guy Levy

Chief Science Officer and Co-founder

Guy G. Levy co-founded Soluble Systems with his business partner, Allan R. Staley, in 1999. In 1997, Dr. Levy began a quest to improve the quality of life and oral health of his patients who suffered with xerstomia (dry mouth). This desire led to a patented break-through in polymer technology that today represents one of the most exciting advances in wound care–extended moisture delivery without maceration.

Dr. Levy earned a BS in Biology from Virginia Tech (Class of 1984 but completed course work in three years in 1983), a DDS with Honors from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1987 and a MS in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. Dr. Levy has practiced general dentistry since 1987, now in Yorktown, Virginia, with an emphasis on laser and microscopic therapies.

Jonathan “Jay” Waggoner

Vice President of Sales

Jay Waggoner currently serves as Vice President of Sales for Soluble Systems. Jay has spent the past 23 years in the Medical Device industry in roles in sales, sales training and sales management. Jay has worked in wound care and hemostasis segments of the industry with the Johnson & Johnson divisions of Ethicon and Ethicon Biosurgery. He also spent several years in the spine market working with DePuy Spine and Medtronic. A career success for Jay was his deep involvement in building the Ethicon Biosurgery business over the past 13 years. Jay has extensive experience and expertise in both building sales training programs as well as embedding organizations with sound sales management fundamentals.

Bart Pattyson

Director, Learning and Development

Leading our training efforts for the organization, Bart brings 19 years of experience from Johnson & Johnson – Ethicon and Depuy Synthes – having held responsibilities in Operations, Sales, WW Professional Education, Sales Training & Marketing. His passion for creating and delivering customer-focused learning as well as driving capabilities to enhance customer engagement have been appreciated by surgeons, nurses and sales/marketing teams in over 25 countries. Recent successes include creating and mobilizing blended learning models to increase effectiveness for hundreds of field-based associates globally.

Bart earned a BS in International Business & Logistics from Penn State University in 1998.
