Below is some background information about TheraGauze™ and our unique polymer technology. For more information, please contact Alyson Barnett at (757) 877-8899.
TheraGauze™ is a sterile polymer wound care dressing that differentially regulates moisture across the wound site.
- This precise moisture regulation is achieved by the proprietary Skin Moisture Rebalancing Technology (SMRT) found in TheraGauze. SMRT (pronounced “smart technology”) gives TheraGauze the unique ability to differentially release or absorb moisture based on the underlying condition of the wound.
- Inert, breathable polymer chains are engineered to form a vertical matrix surrounded by microscopic fractalized channels. This biomimetic nanostructure enables TheraGauze™ to regulate moisture as needed at the cellular level.
Why Moisture Regulation?
- The level of moisture needed to heal wounds varies.
- Too much moisture causes maceration, which damages surrounding skin and can lead to infection.
- Too little moisture can cause the wound to dry out and makes dressing changes extremely painful. Dessicated wounds do not heal properly and can lead to infection.
- Moisture balance facilitates rapid healing and reduces the spread of infection.
- Traditional/ordinary wound dressings address a single moisture condition –a dry dressing used on a wet (exudating) wound, or a wet dressing on a dry wound. TheraGauze allows you to treat complex wounds that do not fit exclusively into one category.
Healing Benefits of TheraGauze™
- From a patient perspective, there is no alternative to TheraGauze™.
- Will not macerate the wound or surrounding tissue while providing moisture.
- Will not adhere to the wound or surrounding tissue.
- No pain upon removal of TheraGauze.
- Leaves no residue.
- When used as directed, TheraGauze remains moist and active for up to seven days, reducing the frequency of dressing changes.
TheraGauze™ vs. Regranex® Clinical Study and Cost Analysis
- In a double-blind study comparing wound closure rates, TheraGauze closed wounds 24% better at 20 weeks than growth factor treatment(Regranex®).
- Not only does TheraGauze perform better, it is also more cost-effective. TheraGauze therapy is on average $5,000 less expensive than Regranex® treatment. For every one million patients treated, $5 billion in healthcare costs can be saved by using TheraGauze.
Products and Purchasing
- TheraGauze™ available in two sizes: 2x2 inches and 4.125x4.125 inches.
- TheraGauze+FN™ is fenestrated (+FN) for use on moderate to heavily exudating wounds. The fenestration allows excess exudate to pass through TheraGauze into a secondary absorbent dressing. TheraGauze+FN can be used with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) as the wound interface layer.
